Bayanihan Festival 2009
By J.Tupas, 15 November 2009
Bayanihan Festival was a success. Although it was raining all day but people stayed in support for the event. Thank you to all NAMA members who participated in the event, we may not have the numbers compared to the other groups but we shown to all of them that NAMA is an organization that we can be proud of. To all those who missed the event, how we wish that you were there to see the real spirit of Bayanihan. It was raining all day but people stayed, kids with ages ranging from 5 to 15 years old didn't bother by the rain and continued their presentation as a show of commitment for the community to share their talent in their own little way. How wonderful to see people carrying tents moving from one place to another systematically without any complaints. It was the same scenario when we were young when people carrying bahay kubo as part of their Bayanihan.
I will be taking my vacation beginning next week and will not be back until mid of January. Happy holidays and all the best to all of us.

All Mapua Alumni are invirted to participate in this event wearing a NAMA-UAE uniform in order for us to be recognized. Please be reminded that we, NAMA-UAE, is the current ORGANIZING COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN for this event and the upcoming Philippine Independence Day 2010 celebration. Your cooperation will be highly appreciated.
NAMA-UAE will have a tent at the Filipino Community organization's tent area at the back of the stage. Those who would like to register for membership and want to get the uniform T-shirt may visit us there.
DUBAI — The ‘One Filipino Spirit’ that motivated the Filipino community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to help the typhoon victims in the Philippines, will be celebrated with the Bayanihan Festival set for December 11 at the Megabowl, Zabeel Park.
‘Bayanihan’ or the spirit of working together will be celebrated once again in the year-end programme. It will be a celebration of the heroic deeds not just of the leaders and members of the more than 60 Filipino organisations accredited with the Philippine Consulate General but also of the ordinary Filipino workers in the UAE, who contributed for the cause.
Robert Ramos of the National Association of Mapua Alumni, chairman of the Organising Committee of the Filipino Community, told Khaleej Times that this year’s celebration will be somewhat different from last year because it will highlight the innate goodness and helpfulness of every Filipino in the UAE, particularly those based in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Now on its second year, the Bayanihan Festival this year carries the Theme, ‘Together We Made A Difference’.
The event will be a whole-day affair of fun games and exciting presentations of martial arts, cheering squads, dance exhibition, public speaking and songs.
It will start at 8am with a mini-bazaar and a special show to be presented by TV personalities from Manila.
Ramos said Philippine schools in Dubai and the Northern Emirates will participate in the cheering squad presentation while the other units will render their own performances.
The event will be free, although there will be a Dh5 fee park entrance.
